We are the Tidewater 29ers. A group of ordinary people from all walks of life with one common interest. We are all addicted to playing the game of Cribbage. Every Wednesday night we meet to sit around and play cribbage for the evening.
The goals of our club are as follow:
How did our club form?
Many years ago (about 50) a group of local men and women got together to play cribbage. Earl Luton, Francis Wade, Stan Daniels, Dick Wade, Oscar Bright, Russ Cummins and others had the same passion for cribbage and friendship that we all have today.
In the early 1980's the American Cribbage Congress was formed in Raleigh North Carolina. The ACC, in order to increase membership, established a "Grass Roots" program that would sanction local play at the "grass roots" level of America. The local people applied for sanctioning and officially became Grass Roots Club 117 named the "Tidewater 29ers".

We play 36 sanction tournaments from September to May of each year and compete for local and national prizes.
The Tidewater 29er's support two ACC tournaments each year in our area that honors past Club 117 members. The Ed Horgan Memorial Tournament is played in mid February. The Stan Daniels Memorial Tournament is played on October over Columbus Day weekend and in its 18th year is one of the oldest continuous running tournaments in America.
