We meet every Wednesday night throughout the year. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. with play starting at 7 p.m. sharp. It is not unusual to have players show up at 6 p.m. to play and enjoy the evening. Comrodery is always at an all time high.
An evening of cribbage consists of 9 games against 9 different opponents. The final score of each game is recorded on each players scorecard (see below). A win counts as 2 points, a skunk is 3 points and a loss is zero points. All three columns are totaled at the end of the evening and the highest scores are declared winners. Winners score prizes at the rate of one winner for every four players. In addition non winners have a chance to win prizes in the team competition.
Prizes are given out for various accomplishments, such as:

Above is a typical scorecard with this explanation:
Game 1 was won, thus 2 game points
Game 1 was won by 15 holes, thus 15 is placed in the plus (+) column
Game 1 opponent's initials are "MWL".
Game 1 opponent's assigned number is "3".
Dennis had a very good night winning 7 of 9 games and would normally place very high in the standings for the evening.
Notice Dennis got skunked on "Game 4" and had to visit the skunk can. As noted below, skunks are to be avoided. If you're skunked it will not only cost you a trip to the skunk bank, but you must deposit $0.50 into the bank and shake it so that everyone knows what happened to you. A fun way to draw attention to yourself. All proceeds go back to the players.
